Stainless Steels

1.453413-8 PH – DIN X3CrNiMoAl13-8-2

PH 13-8 Mo (UNS S13800) is a vacuum-melted martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel with excellent strength, high hardness, superior toughness, and good corrosion resistance. Compared to 17-4 PH and 15-5 PH grades, it generally offers the highest combination of strength and toughness.

The main application of 1.4534 is for critical details requiring outstanding mechanical properties and high resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

1.4534 (UNS S13800) is characterized by:

  • Very high mechanical strength.
  • Excellent toughness, especially in the transverse direction.
  • Good resistance to general corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
  • Excellent fatigue resistance.

1.4534 is widely used in aerospace, nuclear reactor components, petrochemicals, motorsports, and high-performance fasteners. The heat treatment consists of solution annealing followed by aging (precipitation hardening). Its weldability is good.

Common Specifications and Standards:

  • ASTM: A564, A693, A705 (Type XM-13)
  • AMS: 5629, 5864
  • EN: 10088-3 (1.4534)
