Austenitic-ferritic stainless steel, also called duplex stainless steel, combines many useful properties of ferritic and austenitic steels. Due to their high chromium and nitrogen content and often molybdenum content, these steels offer good resistance to localized and uniform corrosion. The duplex microstructure contributes to high strength and high resistance to stress corrosion cracking. Duplex steels have good weldability. All duplex grades have a maximum service temperature limited to 250 or 325 ° C.

1.4662 is a duplex stainless steel containing a high content of chromium and nitrogen molybdenum. This grade combines an overall high corrosion resistance with a higher mechanical strength than other common duplex grades. These properties make the 1.4662 well suited for optimum designs in terms of strength, reduced maintenance, durability and long term cost efficiency.

1.4662 duplex stainless, pulp and paper industry, desalination plants, cargo tanks and piping systems in chemical tankers, firewalls and explosion walls on offshore platforms, components for structural design, boilers and water heaters, storage tanks, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, Used in rotors, propellers and shafts and bridges.
