AISI 321 – DIN X6CrNiTi8-10

AISI 321 and AISI 347 are from the basic 18/8 austenitic group, 321 are balanced with titanium and 347 with niobium. The reason for using these grades is that no carbide precipitation occurs even at temperatures of 425-850 degrees. AISI 321 is used in applications requiring high strength bonding, crusting resistance and phase stability at temperatures above 900 degrees.
Its titanium content is not recommended as it restricts high temperature arc welding. However, it should be preferred because the niobium in AISI 347 absorbs well the arc source. You can weld AISI 347 material using 321. AISI 321 and 347 have excellent forming and weldability like other austenitics.
It does not require post-welding annealing. At the same time, these grades have good toughness. However, AISI 321 is not suitable for polishing, so it is not recommended for decorative applications.

CORROSION RESISTANCE: The annealing condition is equivalent to AISI 304 and this quality is ideal if post-weld annealing is not desired or covers applications that will operate in the range of 425 - 900 degrees. In hot environments with acid, capillary cracks in the internal structure of the material are like AISI 304.

HEAT RESISTANCE: It is possible to operate at 900 degrees with intervals and at 925 degrees continuously. And it has good oxidation resistance. These grades show good performance between 425 - 900 degrees and show good corrosion condition especially in watery environments.

HEAT TREATMENT: After the annealing process is heated between 950 - 1120 degrees, it is rapidly cooled. In order to achieve balance, each 25 mm thickness is heated to 870 - 900 degrees per hour and cooled in air. These grades cannot be heat treated.

WELDING: It has excellent capability in all welding methods. In filling or other welding methods, AISI 321 and 347 materials can be welded with 347 electrodes or rods.

USAGE AREAS: Bar, Sheet, Hexagon. Aircraft exhaust manifold Expansion joint Bellows Furnace parts Heat exchanger in heat pipe parts Heat exchanger As a fabric or curtain in high temperature mining operations As spiral welded pipe in applications such as burner or furnace chimney
