1.4116 / DIN X50CrMoV15 – AISI 440A – UNS S44002
Martensitic stainless steels exhibit the perfect combination of mechanical resistance and hardness with proper heat treatment. Moreover, they are ductile and malleable. Due to its high molybdenum and chromium content, 1.4116 / DIN X50CrMoV15 / AISI 440A has good corrosion resistance among the stainless steel family.
Usage areas; Bearings, wedge gauges, dies, forks, valve parts, measuring instruments, surgical instruments, synthetic resin molds, pressing and cutting tools, high quality knives.
The hot forming temperature of 1.4116 / DIN X50CrMoV15 / AISI 440A stainless is 1100-800 ºC.
The best processing is done in the annealed condition. Hard chips can be processed best using chip breakers. Carbide or ceramic tools are recommended
1.4116 / DIN X50CrMoV15 / AISI 440A are not recommended for welding because their welds are brittle and have low corrosion resistance.
Wash the surface with neutral soap and water with a cloth or brush without scratching the stainless steel. Then always rinse the stainless steel with water to completely remove the cleaning agent. Finally, it is recommended to dry the surface to maintain a good surface condition. In harsh environments, frequent cleaning is highly recommended.
