17-4 PH (UNS S17400) is one of the most common precipitation-hardening martensitic stainless steels on the market. It features high mechanical strength and hardness, alongside good corrosion resistance. Compared to standard martensitic stainless steels, its corrosion resistance is significantly superior and is comparable to 304 grade stainless steel in most standard environments.

The heat treatment consists of solution annealing (Condition A) followed by aging (precipitation hardening) at different temperatures. Its weldability is good.
