By using 1.4539 (UNS N08904 - 904L - SS2562), you get high-alloy, acid-resistant stainless steel that has been developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulfuric acid. This material is very useful for details in the marine environment, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
1.4539 (UNS N08904, 904L and SS2562) is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel with very good corrosion resistance. This material has been developed to resist corrosion in dilute sulfuric acid. Suitable for use in severely corrosive environments; sulfuric acid tanks. What gives the material good resistance to corrosion is the combination of high chromium, nickel, molybdenum and copper content. It also has good resistance to crevice corrosion, pitting corrosion, stress corrosion cracking and intercrystalline corrosion.
Typical areas of application for 1.4539; Marine environment, Chemical industry, Pharmaceutical industry, Food industry.
1.4539 can be welded but sensitive to hot cracking. Steel can be formed both cold and hot, but can only be hardened by cold working. With the right selection of tool and machine data, completely satisfactory machining results can be achieved.
