2.4646 / Alloy 214 is used in honeycomb gaskets, flame hoods, burners, network belts, catalytic converters, Chlorine contaminated combustion systems and other static oxidation limited parts.
The 2.4646 / Alloy 214 alloy is widely accepted for use in honeycomb gaskets due to its outstanding oxidation resistance. The seals are made of thin gauge foil and are used to prevent leakage between different stages in gas turbine engines. These types of seals contribute to the fuel efficiency of the engine.
2.4646 / Alloy 214 is a nickel-chromium-aluminum-iron alloy with excellent high temperature corrosion and oxidation resistance of 955 ° C (1750 ° F) and above. It is best suited for high temperature, low stress environments. 2.4646 is sold in the solution heat treated form. At temperatures above 955 ° C, an Al2O3 type oxide scale is formed that provides excellent resistance to carburization, nitriding and corrosion in oxidizing environments containing chlorine.
