W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome is classified as a cobalt alloy and has outstanding properties in tensile strength, strength, ductility and corrosion resistance. In addition, it is biocompatible and therefore well designed as an implant material. W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome alloy contains 40% cobalt, 20% chromium, 16% nickel and 7% molybdenum. This material is used when high resistance to corrosion is required and there is no mention of material fatigue. Primary applications of the W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome material include but are not limited to: the medical and dental industries, the chemical industry, aerospace, and the watch industry as it is a preferred material for spring and axle manufacturing.
With appropriate thermal treatment, tensile strengths of up to 2800 N / mm² can be achieved depending on the diameter. Long flexible life, ability to withstand very high temperatures and non-magnetic behavior W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome are the most basic properties that define the alloy.
Both organic and mineral acids can hardly attack this material. This is W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome makes the material surpass even the best stainless steels in terms of corrosion resistance. This resistance, in combination with its immobility when contacting body fluids or tissue, makes the alloy an excellent choice for implants.
In a vacuum or argon overflow furnace W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome can be cured at 520 ° C for three hours. Exposure to air will result in a green color that has no effect on the mechanical properties of the materials. The hardness level at delivery should be chosen appropriately, as it affects the maximum effect of the heat treatment.
W. Nr. 2.4711 / Phynox / Elgiloy / Conichrome can be easily welded and soldered; however, only cold worked material can be hardened. Therefore, welded areas should not be exposed to excessive mechanical stress.
