2.4606 / INCONEL 686 – ALLOY 686 – UNS N06686
Alloy 686 / 2.4606 / Inconel 686 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-tungsten alloy.
Superior corrosion resistance in dwindling environments. Good resistance to oxidizing environments. Molybdenum and Tungsten increase resistance to local corrosion such as pitting.
Chemical processing, pulp and paper industry, waste treatment are the main application areas of 2,4606 nickel alloys.
UNS N06686 / W.Nr. 2.4606 / Inconel 686 / Alloy 686 is a single phase, austenitic Ni-Cr-Mo-W alloy offering outstanding corrosion resistance in a variety of harsh environments. It provides good resistance to high nickel (Ni) and molybdenum (Mo) reducing conditions and provides resistance to high chromium (Cr) oxidizing agents. Molybdenum (Mo) and tungsten (W) help resist local corrosion such as pitting. It is closely controlled to improve iron (Fe) properties. Low carbon (C) helps to minimize grain boundary precipitation to maintain corrosion resistance in heat affected areas of welded joints. Overall, pitting and crevice corrosion resistance increases with alloying (Cr + Mo + W) content, and 2.4606 is higher than competing materials.
