MARAGING 250 / Alloy 250 - UNS K92890
Alloy 250 (UNS K92890 / Maraging 250) is an iron-nickel steel that can be aged. Maraging 250 combines ultra high strength (1800MPa), good toughness, easily machinable in pre-aged condition, excellent transverse properties and resistance to crack propagation. Maraging 250 is used for missile and ejector systems, battens and drive shafts.
Maraging 250 is a low carbon, nickel-cobalt-molybdenum high temperature alloy melted with vacuum induction and vacuum arc melted. This varying steel can reach yield strengths in excess of 240 ksi (1655 MPa) with a simple, low temperature heat treatment. Maraging 250 exhibits good ductility at high strength levels and is easily welded.
Maraging 250 is essentially a non-carbon nickel / cobalt steel alloy, with other alloying elements including moly, aluminum and titanium. This combination meets AMS 6512 and MIL-S-46850D specifications, ASTM A 538 and UNS K 92890 specifications.
