Also referred to as Waspaloy (UNS N07001 / W. Nr. 2.4654 / Waspaloy / Alloy Wasp), up to 650 ° C (1200 ° F) for critical applications and 870 ° C (1600 ° F) for simpler applications It is a nickel-based, age-able superalloy with excellent high temperature strength and good corrosion resistance at high temperatures. The high temperature strength of the alloy is obtained from solid solution strengthening elements, molybdenum, cobalt and chromium, and aging elements, aluminum and titanium. W. Nr. The strength and stability ranges of 2.4654 / Waspaloy / Alloy Wasp are higher than for Alloy 718. It is produced by vacuum induction melting and vacuum arc remelting (VIM / VAR) or vacuum induction melting and electroslag remelting (VIM / ESR).

W. Nr. 2.4654 / Waspaloy / Alloy Wasp is used for gas turbine engine components that require significant strength and corrosion resistance at high operating temperatures. Current and potential applications include compressor and rotor discs, shafts, spacers, gaskets, rings and housings, fasteners and a variety of other engine hardware, hull assemblies and missile systems. W. Nr. The oxidation resistance of the 2.4654 / Waspaloy / Alloy Wasp alloy is good under frequent thermal cycling conditions and continuous exposure to temperatures up to 1038 ° C (1900 ° F). It performed well in the atmospheres and salt spray environments found in gas turbine engine service. Solution treated material offers the best corrosion resistance.
