VAR® 725 / INCONEL 725 – ALLOY 725 – UNS N07725

VAR® 725 / Alloy 725 is a nickel, chromium, molybdenum, niobium alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion and can be aged for extremely high strength. It has essentially the same corrosion resistance as Inconel 625, which is widely used in a wide range of severely corrosive environments. Age hardened VAR® 725 / Alloy 725, also referred to as UNS N07725, has twice the strength of annealed Alloy 625. As the strength of the material is improved by heat treatment, not by cold working, ductility and toughness remain high.

VAR® 725 / Alloy 725 provides corrosion resistance to high levels of nickel and chromium in reducing and oxidizing environments. Significant molybdenum content increases the resistance to the reducing agent and provides a high degree of resistance to crevice corrosion. In addition, the combination of elements makes the alloy resistant to stress corrosion.

The properties of this superalloy, also described as Inconel 725, are well suited for a range of applications requiring exceptional corrosion resistance combined with high strength. The material is used for polished hole pots, hangers in acid gas service, landing nipples, side pocket mandrels, resistant to the effects of hydrogen sulfide, chlorides and carbon dioxide. VAR® 725 / Alloy 725 is also suitable for high strength fasteners in marine applications where resistance to seawater corrosion and crack attack is required.
