1.4862 / ALLOY DS – INCOLOY DS

1.4862 / Alloy DS / Incoloy DS is a silicon-doped nickel-iron-chromium alloy with good oxidation resistance. It has excellent resistance to carburizing and oxidizing atmosphere with good high temperature resistance. The austenitic microstructure of this alloy is stable even at high temperatures for long periods. It is used in furnace muffles, cages, conveyor systems exposed to heat, heat treatment baskets and consoles.

Materials 1.4862 and 1.4864 are nickel-iron-chromium mixed crystal alloys with the addition of about 2% silicon. They are characterized by good oxidation and lime resistance and provide excellent resistance to carburization even in alternative reducing and oxidizing atmospheres. At the same time, these materials offer good mechanical properties and high strength even at high temperatures.

Due to its high chromium and silicon content, 1.4862 / Alloy DS / Incoloy DS is clearly superior to 1.4864 in corrosion resistance. This also applies to sulfurization resistance. Typical areas of application for this material are Components for heat treatment furnaces with a carburizing atmosphere, Glow boxes and baskets for carburizing plants, Hangers, hooks and conveying chains for glass enamel furnaces (resistant to spillage of oxides that may damage the enamel layer), Compression devices for brazing furnaces and fittings, Protection pipes for thermocouples, Conveyor belts and wire mesh for heat treatment plants, Split ammonia transport components (protective gas furnaces).
